WHAT IS THE TASSA FOOTPRINT

The TASSA Footprint is a unique vehicle and asset identification system designed to deter theft, support identification and help recover stolen property.

What is the TASSA Footprint?

Each TASSA Footprint kit has its own unique identity which is registered on the secure TASSA database and linked to the vehicle or asset it has been applied to. The identifiers supplied within the kit can be applied around the vehicle or asset, providing an additional way of identifying it if original manufacturer markings, registration plates or other identifying information have been removed, altered or tampered with.

Each TASSA Footprint identifier uses QR code functionality, providing a quick and simple way to check the recorded status of the protected vehicle or asset. Once the kit has been registered, a scan can show whether the vehicle or asset is recorded as clear, stolen or recovered.

This means TASSA Footprint can help not only the owner, but also anyone who may come across a stolen vehicle or asset. If a TASSA Footprint protected vehicle or asset is found, its identifiers can help police, recovery professionals or members of the public recognise that it has been reported stolen and support its recovery.

Simple to apply and use

TASSA Footprint has been designed to be straightforward to use without the need for specialist installation.

Each kit contains the materials and guidance needed to prepare and apply the TASSA Footprint and complete the registration process.

Once the TASSA Footprint has been applied, the kit must be registered on the TASSA database and linked to the vehicle or asset it is protecting. Until this has been completed, the TASSA Footprint will not be active.

Helping with recovery

If a TASSA Footprint protected vehicle or asset is reported stolen, its status can be updated on the system. Anyone scanning one of its TASSA Footprint identifiers can then see that it has been recorded as stolen.

If the property is later recovered, its status can also be updated accordingly.

The TASSA Footprint is not limited by where the vehicle or asset is found. If it is taken abroad and later discovered, the identifiers can still be scanned and the recorded status checked, helping provide a route back to the information held within the TASSA system.

An additional layer of identification

Vehicles and other valuable assets often rely on manufacturer-applied identification numbers and markings. These are important, but they are usually placed in known or predictable locations and can be targeted by criminals attempting to disguise the true identity of stolen property.

TASSA Footprint adds a further layer of identification through multiple identifiers which can be applied around the vehicle or asset. The system also includes additional security features which are deliberately not publicly disclosed, helping to protect the effectiveness of the product.

Warning stickers supplied with the kit can also be displayed on vehicles to make potential thieves aware that additional identification measures are in place, providing an added deterrent.

Protecting the integrity of the system

Before a TASSA Footprint kit can be fully registered, evidence of ownership of the vehicle or asset must be provided.

This helps protect genuine owners by reducing the risk of someone attempting to register a TASSA Footprint against property that does not belong to them.

Kits must also be registered within a set period after purchase. This is an important security measure designed to protect the integrity of the system and reduce the risk of unused kits being obtained and misused to try to give stolen property a false identity.

Your personal information remains protected

Scanning a TASSA Footprint does not reveal the owner's name, address, contact details or other personal information.

The information available through a scan relates to the vehicle or asset and its recorded status. The information held securely by TASSA can then be used, where appropriate, to help authorised organisations such as the police identify the property and trace it back to its rightful owner.

The TASSA Footprint provides your vehicle or asset with an additional means of identification that remains connected to its TASSA record and can help identify, trace and recover it if it is stolen.
